and then there is also romney's current health care proposals too up for debate. let's bring in elizabeth cohen to lay out these plans. because this could really unfold in a whole bunch of different ways. the plans are like this. there are so many similarities and differences, exactly how do they differ. >> and voters were so passionate about health because it affects all of us. of all the six segments this is the most interesting one, i'm biased, but still i think people are going to care about this one. let's lay out the basic differences between the two candidates. so when you look at obama, look at obama care, it mandates people buy insurance. it says, hey, everyone, nearly everyone has to buy insurance or we're going to make you pay money. and it also tells insurance companies, hey, you know what, you got to accept everybody, even the people with expensive pre-existing conditions, you've got to take them in, which they're not doing right now. romney's plan is, we're not going to mandate that you buy insurance, we're going to leave that up to you, and there ar

mitt romney has never debated a single person in a very long time. so i think we're all looking for fireworks and attacks and back and forth. i think at least the first half of the debate and maybe the entire first debate. remember, this is first of three. the entire first debate could be a little bit of a feeling process where no one takes any big risks getting to know one another in their debate style. i certainly could be proven wrong, but my guess is it's less fireworks than we currently are expecting. >> it's in the capable and experienced hands of jim lahr, and we'll see what happens tonight as well as tonight. the 6:30 release, and tomorrow morning at 6:00 a.m., it is new battleground polls for ohio, virginia, florida. that's going to be very important news as well. the nbc "wall street journal" mariss polls. we saw a narrow iing of the polls initially. that is still very much in play. >> i can't wait. a political junkie's dream with all that polling coming up. i can't help but smile. >> we love to see you smiles. that does it for us for this

is mitt romney going to work this into the debate? >> you saw mitt romney's op-ed in the "wall street journal" monday. a three levelled argument about economic growth, reasserting american values and doing something different than the obama administration has done on foreign policy as it relates to the arab spring. i think if the governor wants to, he can use this format, which is open ended on the economy, talk about the economy, but also about american strength and how that can or will be affected in the future economically. so i wouldn't be surprised at all if what you saw in that op-ed that governor romney wrote for the "wall street journal" doesn't become part of a response to a larnler conversation about not just economics in america, but the economic projection, the values projection and foreign policy pro jex. >> let me ask you about the deb krzyzewskied. it's going to be six segments. the moderator has some ability to let it go and bring the conversation more broadly. breathe more than we've seen in the past. does that favor
